Attic Insulation

Spray foam is better than any type of insulation at reducing air leakage. This process makes it relatively easy to fill in wall and ceiling cavities. Most spray foam is a two component foam that is mixed on site using special equipment and sprayed onto your attic surface via hose and mixing gun. This method is more costly than blow in insulation but will provide unbelievable results and your attic temperature will be within degrees of the internal temperature of your home. It will extend the life of your a/c and furnace and will create a much more comfortable temperature in your home.

Blown-in insulation fills every nook and cranny of the attic and creates an extra fluffy layer of effective insulation. It is a convenient and cost effective option that can be blown in over existing insulation or in between ceiling joists without disturbing structures. Loose-fill cellulose can be blown on your attic floor or other spaces that may require insulation. Blown-in insulation can easily cover large areas and will fill in areas with tight spaces and angles. It is recommended to have at least 14-15 inches of blown-in insulation for best results. This method is less expensive than spray foam insulation.

Vacuuming and removal of insulation is very time consuming and labor intensive. You may need to remove existing insulation for various reasons. The most common reason is possum and rodent infestations. You may also need to remove existing insulation if you are going with spray foam attic insulation so that your attic can properly breath.
